Obama forced to accept a trip to Scandinavia
Everyone will agree that Scandinavia is not the most appropriate place for a holiday in December. Especially because of its climate. But anyone who receives a Nobel Peace can not really escape the trip to Oslo on December 10. That is what will President Obama, honored this year by the Norwegian Nobel Committee for having created "a new climate in international political relations." Once in Oslo, why not continue the journey to another destination Scandinavian? Precisely the same time, offer one of Copenhagen's most prominent galleries at any newly named Nobel loan "Take (his) share of responsibility in the global response to international challenges." So how President Obama could you avoid going to the United Nations Conference on Climate Change to be held in Copenhagen from 7 to 18 December 2009? But if the city of Oslo is all the honors, "Copenhagen" has become synonymous with commitment. So, when preparing his speech in Oslo, President Obama will also ensure that his country's commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and to finance projects in developing countries is meet expectations. Of course, this makes it more difficult because a simple speech awards, not need the consent of the Senate.
Nobody knows today whether President Obama will succeed in time and thus deserve the Prize in Oslo. But what is already certain is that by selecting as winner the day of the failure of the climate negotiations in Bangkok, the Norwegian Nobel Committee has received an award in Machiavellian geopolitics.
