Today, autistic children can potentially include:
- a regular kindergarten class, considered a privileged place for individual education and integration. Moreover, the government does not want to open special integration classes (CLIS) in kindergarten, just from the elementary school;
- a regular elementary or primary class, with an accompaniment of a carer school full time or part time;
- a CLIS for children with mental retardation and disorders of communication relatively minor (class of 10 students and 12);
- a CLIS for children with developmental disorders ( smaller size class, 5-6 students on average, with strong support). Some may also qualify for enrollment timeshare between a school and a health facility (hospital days), or between a school and a nursing home.
